Short Heath Federation Level 2 Teaching Assistant – Term Time Only (Initial work at Short Heath Junior School) 30 hours a week. Grade G4 £26,403‑£28,142 pro‑rata to hours worked. Actual salary from £18,413 per annum, £13.68‑£14.58 per hour.
A little bit about us: Our school is built on a foundation of love and compassion. We are special because our children have made us this way. This is a highly inclusive environment where all of our children, whatever their level of need, are loved and valued. Our proportions of children with SEN and SEMH needs and those with EHCPs are significantly higher than the national average. As a result we have led an exciting journey of inclusive practice. Our classrooms and offer are designed for the children of today, mirroring the developmental stage and needs of our unique Short Heath children. They are happy, busy, and emotionally safe environments. Clear routines, consistent boundaries and warm, responsive relationships help children feel secure. Children are encouraged to be autonomous, make choices about their learning, and experience success. We have additional supported learning provisions for children with communication and interaction and/or SEMH differences, and we are opening a further provision in September 2026. These children follow a bespoke curriculum in small groups with higher adult ratios, accessing mainstream classrooms when appropriate. Our school works closely with our HOPE Team, a highly skilled team offering support and guidance to families, and a school therapist who offers support and supervision to children and staff.
A little bit about the role: We are creating an exciting role as we move towards opening our new Specialist Resource Provision. You will work with a team of a teacher, a Level 3 teaching assistant, and another Level 2 teaching assistant. You will see a small group of 4 adults and 8 children, working alongside staff in all our provisions, our mainstream staff, and colleagues at Rosedale, our federated infant school.
A little bit about you: We look for staff who are kind, compassionate, curious, warm, and who believe there is always another way. You will need to be committed, hardworking, solution‑focused, and determined to make a difference. Experience with children who have communication and interaction differences – with or without diagnoses – is desirable. Training in Nurture, trauma‑informed responses, or relational practice is good to have. Most importantly, you must believe that all children have the right to an education that meets their needs.
