Walsall Council is looking for motivated, responsible and customer-focused Lifeguards to help keep our swimmers safe and our leisure environment clean and welcoming for all our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise poolside activity and ensure safety of swimmers at all times
  • Respond confidently to emergencies
  • Deliver excellent customer service and a positive experience for all visitors
  • Assist with equipment set-ups and centre cleanliness

What you’ll need:

  • An NPLQ qualification
  • Good communication skills with a calm, proactive and safety-minded approach

  • Darlaston Swimming Pool – 1 x Full-Time 37 hours
  • Walsall Gala Swimming & Fitness Centre – 1 x Full-Time 37 hours; 1 x Part-Time 19.5 hours
  • Bloxwich Active Living Centre – 1 x Part-Time 18.5 hours

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed leisure professionals to join our team to help us achieve our goal of More People, More Active, More Often. You will be responsible for the presentation and delivery of all services within our leisure centres, providing a high-quality service and the safe supervision of customers with excellent lifeguarding duties. The successful candidates must have experience in a front-line customer service environment and hold an RLSS Pool Lifeguarding qualification.

Walsall leisure is committed to the development of all employees, with opportunities to upskill and attend further training in swimming teaching, relief duty management, centre assistant and gym instructor work. Completion of an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement for this role. The job role requires working rotating shifts including evenings and weekends and bank holidays.
