Walsall Council is looking for enthusiastic, adaptable team members to assist in the production and delivery of school meals across the borough. Successful candidates will undertake general kitchen duties including the cleaning of associated equipment. In return, we offer an excellent pay rate, uniform and access to training. Casual Food Preparation Assistants are valued members of our teams and are needed in our schools and Council buildings. If you are available to work a flexible pattern between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday to Friday term time, we would like to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of school meals.
- Perform general kitchen duties, including cleaning equipment.
- Support coverage for annual leave and sickness on an ‘as and when needed’ basis; hours are not guaranteed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Hold or be training to obtain the Essential Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Complete the pre‑employment health questionnaire prior to commencing kitchen duties.
- Meet the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers – be able to communicate verbally with customers in accurate spoken English.
- Complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check may be a requirement.
