Birmingham City Council is looking for three VMS Fleet Officers to support the day-to-day operations of our fleet. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our vehicles are compliant, well-maintained, and efficiently managed.
Working closely with the VMS Administration Manager and other team members, you’ll help keep our fleet safe, legal, and operational – supporting services that make a real difference across the city.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records for vehicle tax, MOTs, insurance, and licences.
- Monitor servicing schedules and coordinate maintenance and tyre replacements.
- Assist with vehicle hire arrangements and insurance claims.
- Input and manage fleet data, including fuel usage and mileage.
- Prepare reports to support operational decision-making.
- Liaise with internal teams and external providers to resolve issues and ensure service continuity.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives around safety, sustainability, and cost-efficiency.
What We’re Looking For
- Proficiency in IT systems, including fleet management software and Microsoft Office.
- Experience in fleet operations, transport, or logistics.
- Strong understanding of vehicle compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to safety and compliance.
