Birmingham City Council is seeking a dynamic VMS Administration Manager to lead the Vehicle Management Service (VMS) office team. This role supports the efficient management of the Council’s fleet and staff business travel, ensuring legal compliance and the transition to electric vehicles. You’ll be at the heart of driving operational excellence, minimising vehicle downtime, and delivering fit-for-purpose travel solutions across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the VMS administration team.
- Manage fleet systems and ensure legal documentation compliance.
- Act as a key point of contact for complex enquiries and complaints.
- Support procurement, rollout, and maintenance of fleet vehicles.
- Liaise with external suppliers and monitor service quality.
- Contribute to fleet decarbonisation and climate targets.
- Oversee financial processes within the team.
What We\’re Looking For
Essential:
- Full UK driving licence.
- AFP membership or equivalent.
- 5+ years’ experience in fleet administration.
- Supervisory experience in a fleet/travel function.
- Strong IT skills (Word, Excel) and understanding of statutory fleet responsibilities.
Desirable:
- BTEC Level 5 in Management or equivalent.
- Progress on AFP Fleet Vehicle Management Pathway.
