Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is looking for an enthusiastic Equipment Technician to join our Community Equipment Stores team. This is a rewarding role where you'll directly support vulnerable adults and carers by delivering, installing, and collecting community equipment that helps people live safely and independently in their own homes.

Every day you'll play a vital role in improving outcomes for local residents, helping them retain their independence, confidence, and quality of life.

About The Role

  • Deliver, install, fit, and maintain a range of community equipment within service users' homes.
  • Carry out minor repairs and maintenance to equipment.
  • Complete risk assessments and maintain accurate electronic records.
  • Ensure equipment meets quality and safety standards, including MHRA requirements.
  • Collect and recycle equipment no longer required.
  • Provide advice and support to colleagues, carers, and partner agencies regarding equipment and assistive technology.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while working respectfully with individuals from diverse communities.

This is a varied and hands-on role that combines technical skills, customer service, problem-solving, and a commitment to supporting people to live independently.

Essential Requirements

  • Literacy Level 2 qualification (or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience working in an installation or similar technical environment.
  • Good IT and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
