Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is recruiting a full-time Curriculum Quality Lead for the Sandwell Adult and Family Learning Service. The role is responsible for leading a team of tutors, ensuring high teaching standards, and developing curriculum programmes across three main centres and outreach venues throughout the borough.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop staff and part‑time tutors within specialist curriculum areas.
  • Plan and manage comprehensive provision across three centres and schools/community settings.
  • Develop and manage a curriculum programme responsive to service objectives.
  • Participate in internal and external quality assurance activities – assessment, moderation, standardisation, RARPA, Ofsted, EIF, SAR.
  • Recruit, support and manage staff to achieve high performance.
  • Prepare and contribute to quality improvement strategies.
  • Travel between learning centres daily and travel expenses claimed via SMBC mileage scheme.

Qualifications

  • Level 5 qualification in the teaching of adults (e.g. DTLLS).
  • Level 4 subject specialism – required in management.
  • Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance qualification (IQA).
  • Level 2 English, Maths and ICT/digital qualifications unless held as specialist; English and Maths specialists must hold Level 5 Literacy or Numeracy specialism or achieve within 12 months.
  • Evidence of recent successful teaching experience in the subject area managed.
  • Experience managing adult course delivery (19+) preferably in employability, family learning or tailored learning.
