Telford & Wrekin Council is offering a Trading Standards apprenticeship role. This fixed‑term post lasts until 31 March 2029 and is funded by the Department of Health & Social Care investment that aims to strengthen Trading Standards enforcement. Applicants will work towards a Level 6 Trading Standards professional apprenticeship, supported by a structured training programme and a team of experienced professionals to become fully qualified.
As part of the Trading Standards team you will be involved in a wide range of work, which includes:
- Supporting Trading Standards Officers with investigations and enforcement activity.
- Playing a key role in enforcing tobacco and vape regulations, including tackling illicit and under‑age sales.
- Advising businesses and consumers on Trading Standards legislation.
- Gaining hands‑on experience across a broad range of consumer protection work.
Working Conditions
The team has a supportive and positive working culture. The role starts with an expectation of three to four days per week based in the Telford office, later moving to two days (typically Wednesdays and Thursdays) under a hybrid working model.
