Short Wood Primary School is seeking Teaching Assistants for an immediate start in September 2026. Two positions are available, one in the Early Years department requiring experience in an Early Years setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in the teaching and learning of children.
  • Establish a supportive relationship with the children.
  • Carry out other duties within the remit of a Teaching Assistant.
  • Provide one-to-one support for a child with additional needs when required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in an Early Years setting (essential for the Early Years post).
  • Willingness to undertake enhanced DBS and other statutory checks (CRB, Childcare Disqualifications).

Hours and Salary:

  • 5 hours per day, Monday–Friday between 8:45 am and 3:15 pm with some flexibility.
  • Includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. Option to take a reduced lunch break to supervise part of the school lunch period for a paid 30 min per day extra.
  • Pay: £13.05 per hour (£25,185 equivalent annual salary pro-rata).

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; pre-employment checks, references, enhanced DBS (CRB) and Childcare Disqualification Checks will be carried out.
