Telford & Wrekin Council is looking to appoint enthusiastic teachers to join our dedicated staff team and governors at The Bridge School, a friendly, welcoming all-age special school for pupils with profound, complex, and severe learning difficulties. We have full-time and part-time posts (0.5) available, both permanent and fixed-term, starting from September 2026. Applications from ECTs are welcome.
Our main aim is that pupils achieve and progress in an environment where they are safe, happy, and treated with respect at all times. The most recent OFSTED (July 2025) graded the school as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas. We are committed to sustaining the highest quality teaching and provision for our pupils and to work in partnership with parents and carers.
Responsibilities:- Plan and deliver highly personalised, multi-sensory learning experiences in line with The Bridge School curriculum and individual pupil EHCPs.
- Demonstrate small step progress for pupils with severe and profound learning needs.
- Support pupils with communication, sensory needs, physical needs, and emotional regulation.
- Work collaboratively with other staff, professionals, and families.
- Use approaches such as Makaton, AAC, Intensive Interaction, and other interventions/sensory-based learning.
- Create a nurturing, structured classroom environment where pupils feel safe and valued.
- Plan and support pupils on educational visits.
- Be flexible and confident in working at any of The Bridge School sites as required to meet the needs of the school.
- Holds QTS (or equivalent/working towards).
- Is caring, patient, and committed to supporting pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties.
- Is a resilient and reliable individual.
- Can work collaboratively with families, health professionals, and colleagues.
- Is adaptable, creative, and able to respond to pupils’ individual needs.
- Is willing to learn specialist skills and approaches used within the school.
- Has experience in SEN settings or working with pupils with a wide range of needs (Desirable but not essential).
- Can work confidently across different sites within the school community.
