This role plays a key part in promoting Telford College through the delivery of our school liaison and events programme. You will be responsible for directly delivering engaging outreach activity with young people, schools, parents, employers and other key stakeholders, helping to raise awareness of the opportunities available at Telford College.

Alongside delivering our school liaison programme, you will support the planning, organisation and delivery of a wide range of events. This will include on-campus activities such as Open Evenings and Taster Days, as well as major external events such as the Telford Skills Show. Through your work, you will help ensure that every interaction with the College is positive, informative and professionally delivered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning and deliverance of our school liaison programme – attending assemblies, careers fairs, parents evening and other related events for the purpose of promoting Telford College, Telford 6th and individual subject areas where relevant.
  • Nurture relationships with key stakeholders including local schools, other relevant education providers, curriculum team members as well as our Admissions and Transition team members.
  • Undertake a data led approach to schools liaison – understanding the local offer, opportunities and obstacles to promoting Telford College into school and adapting our approach accordingly.
  • Attend events and activities to promote the College amongst its target audiences.
  • Organise events/tours on campus for external target audiences.
  • Manage and train College student ambassadors who support events.
  • Become fully conversant with all college courses giving advice to potential students wishing to undertake full-time study or an apprenticeship at the college.
  • Organise and deliver additional events that provide significant PR benefit or commercial generation opportunities such as graduation show, award evenings and external stakeholder visits.
  • Maintain annual calendar of events and activities, co-ordinating staff/resource requirements alongside marketing, student support services, estates, curriculum, senior leadership and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Deal with course enquiries face to face or over the telephone in person regarding all college courses and arrange for specialist advice where needed.
  • Generate quantitative and qualitative reports that support a data-led and strategic approach to how we run events as well as collect thorough feedback to indicate their success.
  • Carry out group/individual tours of the college.
  • Work with schools to create workshops on skills, employability and interviews.
Qualifications & Training
  • Level 3 qualification i.e. A Levels or vocational diploma. GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above or equivalent.
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent. Information, advice and guidance (IAG) qualification (Desirable).
Skills & Expertise
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and demonstrable ability to work effectively with young people.
  • Knowledge of UK vocational/secondary education system.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Event organisation skills or relevant transferrable experience.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends.
  • An understanding of and commitment to diversity and equality of opportunity.
  • Knowledge and/or competencies of health and safety as relevant to the post and a commitment to safeguarding the health and safety of students and others.
