This is an office-based role at Darby House, Telford, performing a range of support and administrative duties within Telford & Wrekin Council’s Print & Postal Service. Working 15 hours per week – Monday 7.5 hours (08:00 to 16:00 – 30 min lunch) and Tuesday 7.5 hours (08:00 to 16:00 – 30 min lunch). Full training and ongoing coaching/mentoring will be given.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sorting and distribution of incoming mail.
  • Collecting and processing of internal mail and franking of external mail, ready for collection by external mail services.
  • Scanning, filling, photocopying and letter packing.

Key Requirements

  • Accuracy in sorting and distributing large volumes of internal and external mail within deadlines is essential.
  • Good communication skills and general office administration work e.g. scanning, filling, photocopying and letter packing.

Skills and Experience

  • An organised & methodical approach to work to achieve targets.
  • An ability to deal with internal and external partners in a professional, courteous and unbiased manner.
  • A working knowledge of computer-based software, i.e. MS Word & MS Excel.
  • Ability to work unsupervised within defined guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Literacy and numeracy skills at a standard equivalent to GCSE (Grades A-C) or an appropriate NVQ Level 1.
  • A pro-active approach to all areas of work with a keen eye for accuracy.
  • Previous experience is not essential.

As a Council employee you will be expected to demonstrate the Council’s Core Behaviours, and fully abide by the Health and Safety Policy and the Council’s policies for Data Protection and Information Security.
