Madeley Town Council invites you to join our forward‑thinking, community‑focused team as a Library & First Point Officer. This permanent, part‑time role (16.5 hours per week) will be based on alternate Saturdays and is advertised at Grade NJC LC1 7‑12, with a pro‑rata salary of £26,403 to £28,598.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer general and book‑related queries, issue, discharge and shelve books.
  • Promote library stock.
  • Handle cash.
  • Promote and deliver library events and activities.
  • Register new users.
  • Assist customers with use of the public‑access PCs and other IT resources.
  • Deliver the ‘First Point @’ services within the library.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable about books, online resources, and information available on the Council website.
  • Accurate and able to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills with a diverse range of library customers.
  • Strong questioning skills to understand and meet customer needs.
  • Initiative and a willingness to develop new skills.
