Telford & Wrekin Council is seeking a Lead Child Protection Practitioner. The salary for this position is £50,142 - £53,282 (includes market factor). This is a full-time, permanent role with the following benefits:

Responsibilities:
- The Lead Child Protection Practitioner (LCPP) is a core role within the Multi‑Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT).
- Providing specialist child protection leadership, ensuring high‑quality statutory safeguarding practice.
- Supporting social workers with child protection investigations, offering consultation, guidance, and support.
- Contributing to child protection enquiries and determining thresholds for proceeding with enquiries.
- Embedding and adopting a systemic model of practice rooted in relational work with families, using evidence‑based interventions.
- Acting as a conduit within the MACPT, bridging operational practice with strategic safeguarding priorities.
- Ensuring statutory child protection duties under the Children Act 1989 and Working Together to Safeguard Children are consistently met.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Registered social worker status (Full reimbursement of registration fee).
- Experience in child protection and safeguarding work.
- Strong leadership and multi‑agency collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of statutory guidance and legislation relating to child protection.
- Evidence of using relational and evidence‑based practices.
