In this role, you will lead the design and management of footways and carriageways in the Borough, develop and implement the Highways Asset Management approach and strategy, and manage a team of professional engineers and technicians. Your responsibilities will include leading on the design, management and delivery of schemes that form part of the Highways Capital Programme as well as securing additional work from internal and external clients.
Key responsibilities:- Leading and managing the Highways Maintenance and Capital Improvements team.
- Acting as the Council’s technical lead on carriageways and footways.
- Developing and implementing effective highway asset management.
- Support the management of the highways maintenance contract.
- Managing capital and revenue budgets and ensuring timely delivery of projects.
- Developing innovative strategies and engineering solutions.
- Making technical decisions regarding the impact and delivery of engineering schemes.
- Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
To qualify, you will need a relevant degree in an engineering discipline, significant experience in managing budgets and developing complex engineering projects, experience working with external consultants and private developers, and strong technical ability and professional judgement.
