Do you aspire to work for an ‘Outstanding’ Local Authority? Here in Telford and Wrekin, children, young people and families are at the heart of all we do. The qualities that are important to them are:

  • Understanding that there are layers to a person, a practitioner’s ability to see the person as a 'whole'.
  • The ability to practice care and kindness.
  • Being able to really listen to children, young people and families – what are their views, hopes, aspirations and worries?
  • The ability to communicate well.

Our family are usually the people closest to us, those we care most about. Family life is not just about legal ties – it goes far deeper than that. It concerns our most important biological, social and emotional relationships. We hold the value that children and young people are best cared for by their birth families and extended networks, and this underpins our ‘family first’ ethos.

The Family Solutions Practitioner will hold a mixed caseload of children requiring a targeted short term intensive intervention who are identified as Edge of Care, and children who are to be supported to reunify to their family network or be supported to step down from their current care arrangement. The role requires excellent partnership working experience, ability to risk assess and prioritise competing needs within a fast-paced service.

Our commitment is to ensuring family led decision making is embedded at the heart of our practice and for as many children as possible to remain safely in the care of their family through collaborative partnerships and offering the right service at the right time for children.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salaries and a fantastic leave package — starting at 24 days, rising to 32 days with service, plus 8 bank holidays and an extra concessionary day to enjoy.
  • Flexible working & career progression.
  • Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Staff discounts & salary sacrifice perks.
  • Free parking & confidential wellbeing support.
  • Hybrid working model - whether you're in the office or working from home, we support a balance that fits your personal and family commitments.

Roles involving children or vulnerable adults will require a criminal records check. It’s an offence to apply if you’re barred from working with these groups. Please note: We do not hold a sponsorship licence for visas.
