Woodlands is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, capable, and highly motivated individual as a welcomed addition to our staff team.

Experience of using a synthetic phonics scheme, such as Read Write Inc., is an advantage, but a willingness to learn and commitment to our children’s education is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support class teachers in delivering high‑quality learning experiences.
  • Work with small groups and individual pupils to boost attainment, particularly in English and Maths.
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of interventions.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including trips, events, and enrichment activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress reviews.
  • Ideal Candidate
  • Have a sound understanding of the relative curriculum knowledge and experience of working in Early Years & Foundation Stage or be willing to learn.
  • Be enthusiastic, highly motivated, enjoy working with young children and be passionate about making a positive difference to children’s lives.
  • Be creative and committed to making learning interesting and fun.
  • Inspire trust, instil confidence, and embrace challenges to raise pupil expectation and attainment.
  • Be able to work as part of a successful, hard‑working, dedicated team.
  • Have had experience of shared planning and assessment to enable interpretation of data to support target setting and pupil tracking or be willing to learn.
  • Have a good sense of humour.
  • Be prepared to support children’s care.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant qualification (such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Cover Supervisor qualification) is desirable.
  • A good general standard of education including GCSE English and Maths to Grade C or equivalent.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is essential.
