Teaching Assistants Level 2 & 3 (Permanent & Casual) – Telford & Wrekin Council – Haughton School
Locations
Haughton main site (Madeley, Telford) and specialist hubs.
Pay Scale
Scale 2 (Level 2): £12.85 – £13.05 per hour.
Scale 3 (Level 3): £13.26 – £13.47 per hour.
Hours
Permanent – 32.5 hours per week.
Casual – Term time + 5 Professional Development days.
Start Date
ASAP (subject to Safer Recruitment checks).
About the School
Haughton School is a Primary Special School for children with moderate to severe learning difficulties and complex needs.
Children also have additional needs that may relate to communication & interaction difficulties, social, emotional and mental health difficulties, sensory and physical/medical needs.
Role Summary
We are looking for dynamic, energetic, flexible, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants who are committed to an inclusive approach. Your role will be to support teachers and children within the specialist classroom and in their inclusion in the mainstream setting where appropriate. You will be committed to providing the best opportunities for our rewarding but sometimes challenging group of learners and ensuring every child is supported to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
• Support teachers and children in the specialist classroom and in inclusive mainstream settings.
• Assist children with communication, interaction, autism, and other learning difficulties.
• Deliver tailored support to enable each child to reach their full potential.
• Maintain flexibility, humour, reliability, punctuality, stamina, resilience, and the ability to work under pressure.
Qualifications / Experience
• Sound understanding of specialist approaches for children with communication and interaction difficulties, including autism.
• Evidence of knowledge, skills and experience in successfully supporting these children in educational settings.
Essential Skills / Attributes
• Flexibility, sense of humour, reliability, punctuality, stamina, resilience, and ability to work under pressure.
Safeguarding
We operate a Safeguarding Policy which promotes the welfare of children. Shortlisted candidates must complete a criminal record self-disclosure form. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
