Catshill Middle School, Catshill Federation is looking for a caring, committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (TA2) to join our nurturing, ambitious school community. This role is ideal for someone who loves working with young children, thrives in a team, and wants to make a meaningful difference every day.

About The Role

  • Support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development under the direction of class teachers.
  • Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Help create a positive, enabling learning environment.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive relationships.
  • Promote inclusion and ensure all pupils have equal access to learning.
  • Supervise pupils to ensure their safety and emotional wellbeing.
  • Use your skills to support pupils’ physical, social and intellectual development.
  • Assist with assessment, marking and record‑keeping in line with school policy.
  • Prepare resources and support high‑quality classroom provision.

As stated in the job description, you will “attend to pupils’ personal needs… including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters” and “support learning activities as directed by the class teacher”.

Additional Responsibilities

The role includes supporting pupils outside lesson times (before/after school and lunchtimes), attending relevant meetings, and accompanying classes on trips. You may also be asked to undertake “other duties as commensurate within the grade” to support the smooth running of the school.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is eligible for an enhanced DBS check including a Children’s Barring List Check. This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged.

Hours: 30.25 hrs per week (8:45am - 3:30pm), 12mth temporary contract in the first instance.

Grade: TA2, SCP 5-67 (£25,583 p.a. - £25,989 p.a.) - Actual Salary - £18,371 p.a. - £19,071 p.a.
