Position Overview
Staffordshire County Council invites applications for a Business Support Team Lead based in Tamworth.
You will be responsible for overseeing the management of a team of 18 colleagues that support a wide variety of practitioners working within the Children & Families directorate – including SEND, Assessment & Staying Together Social Work Teams, Children In Care & Care Leavers, and Fostering teams.
- Main Responsibilities
- Monitor, mentor, and provide support and guidance to Business Support staff, including one‑to‑one conversations and application of HR procedures.
- Assist and deputise for the Business Support Team Leader in coordinating and deploying staff and work to meet service needs.
- Manage financial processes in accordance with regulations, including budget monitoring, purchase card use, transaction authorisation, and providing advice to district‑based staff.
- Ideal Candidate
- Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
- Literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Mathematics.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and support the development of individuals.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft 365.
- Experience maintaining financial information for audit and understanding financial regulations.
- Previous experience of servicing meetings, including note‑taking.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
