Grade 4 (£25,989 to £28,142 per annum) East Staffordshire Borough Council, Principal Litter Authority, welcomes you to join our Street Cleaning team.

About Us

Our Street Cleaning team keeps the highways, footpaths and open spaces of the Borough clean and tidy using mechanical and manual sweeping techniques.

The Role

You will drive designated street cleansing vehicles, including mechanical road and footway sweepers, 3.5t pick‑ups and a quad bike, and use an in‑cab device to check workflow demands and record cleanliness levels. You will work outdoors in all weathers and walk long distances. The role supports our commitment to environmental cleanliness with a proactive approach.

Key Requirements

  • Valid driving licence and experience of driving commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonne (maximum gross weight).
  • Understanding of health and safety implications of driving operational vehicles.
  • Excellent customer care and communication skills.
  • Previous experience in street cleansing or waste management, including driving mechanical sweepers (non‑HGV) is ideal but not essential; full training will be provided.

  • Drive street cleansing vehicles to carry out cleansing of highways and public open spaces.
  • Operate in‑cab device for workflow management and cleanliness recording.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions and walk long distances.
  • Maintain high standards of safety and customer service.
