What to Expect in the Role
You will lead and manage a team of lawyers providing legal advice and support to both Stratford‑on‑Avon District Council and Warwick District Council. You will coach your team, build a positive culture, develop relationships with stakeholders, and ensure the delivery of high‑quality services that positively impact the lives of those we serve.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Overall day‑to‑day management of 5 lawyers
- Manage the effective delivery of the Council’s Legal services within your Team area
- Manage and deliver effectively a personal caseload of legal matters including complex and/or sensitive nature
- Responsible and accountable for the performance of the services within your Team, providing leadership, championing a ‘can‑do’ approach, flexibility, team working and continuous improvement
- Attendance at Council Committees
What You’ll Need
- Significant experience in at least one legal area covered by the team (planning, licensing, housing, civil and criminal litigation)
- Leadership, people‑management or supervisory skills, or evidence of a commitment to developing these skills
- Basic understanding of administrative and corporate law as it relates to local government
- Excellent standard of written and verbal communication
