Pirehill First School, Pirehill First School are looking to appoint two Co‑opted Governors.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly regarded school in which a positive, nurturing and inclusive environment is a priority.
Your Role as a Governor
- Setting the strategic direction of the school and ensuring we achieve our mission and objectives
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and ensuring its viability
- Ensuring the school provides a high‑quality education to all students
- Acting as a critical friend to the school leadership, providing support and challenge
Qualifications
- Passion and commitment to education and young people
- The ability to analyse and interpret information
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A willingness to challenge and ask critical questions
- Skills in accountancy or finance and human resources, whether acquired through working in industry or through running your own business, would be valuable, but not essential. Previous experience in governance may be helpful, but we provide comprehensive training and support to all our governors.

Please note, this is not a paid position.
Time commitment: Around 6–8 hours per month (term time only). Full training and support are provided.
As a governor at Pirehill First School, you will be required to attend each of the meetings in accordance with the Code of Conduct. Whilst the role is voluntary, it does require your commitment in order for you to contribute and be properly effective. In addition to attendance at the half‑termly board meetings, your role as a linked governor will necessitate your attendance at some school events and your presence in school is expected and encouraged.
