Manor Abbey School is a provision for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils with an EHCP for Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties. The new school opened in Abbey Hulton, Stoke on Trent, in September 2024. It started with 30 pupils in years 7 and 8 and will grow to a capacity of 70 places over four years.
Responsibilities
- High expectations of academic achievement with a subject specialist focus
- Motivate and support secondary‑aged students who have experienced difficulty in accessing mainstream education
- Plan, sequence and deliver innovative, engaging and practical lessons
- Provide clear direction and support to teaching assistants
- Apply trauma‑informed practices and promote positive mental health
- Manage challenging behaviour effectively
- Lead curriculum implementation for the assigned subject as directed by the Senior Leadership Team
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified teacher with a subject specialism in science and a track record of motivating young people
- Experience working with students with complex educational, social, emotional and mental health needs
