This advert is open to both internal and external applicants.
The purpose of the service is to reduce inequalities within health, employment and life experiences for people with learning disabilities and mental ill health. To engage, enable and empower individuals with learning disabilities and mental ill health to have fulfilled, rewarding and healthy lives. Using a strengths‑based approach and partnership working with the individual, their family and carers, health partners, local businesses, employers, organisations and the local community, we endeavour to achieve our purpose.
Key Responsibilities
- Positively engage with people, showing respect and working in a person‑centred way.
- Recognise, promote and develop a person’s strengths and abilities, and support them with any physical, emotional and social requirements they may have.
- Ensure that a person's right to privacy, dignity and choice are at the foundation of all activity.
- Support and assist people with their health, wellbeing and personal care, paying particular attention to the individual's plans.
- Ensure care, welfare, safety and security responsibilities are followed and relevant policies and procedures are adhered to.
About You
- Have a positive attitude toward people with learning disabilities.
- Have a basic standard of literacy and numeracy and the ability to clearly record information.
- Have relevant work experience or understanding of the disability field and can demonstrate that experience can be applied in practice.
- Can communicate effectively with all people and have good interpersonal skills.
- Be highly motivated and committed to self‑advocacy, understanding the concepts of Social Role Valorisation.
- Can demonstrate, train and assess life skills.
