Goldenhill Primary Academy (Part of The Societas Trust) is looking for an enthusiastic Family Support Worker to join our hard working and committed team. We seek a highly skilled and well‑motivated practitioner to deliver family support and help further pupil wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the pastoral team to deliver provision around focused family support.
  • Develop the social, emotional and health development of pupils and their families.
  • Give targeted individual support to families and carers.
  • Provide advice and signpost families to enable them to access universal and targeted services.
  • Support and promote safeguarding of children as part of the safeguarding team.
  • Work closely with the attendance team to improve pupil attendance and punctuality, providing targeted support for families facing challenges such as persistent absence cases.
  • Work proactively with parents and carers to identify and remove barriers to attendance and engagement with school.
  • Contribute to attendance action plans and multi‑agency strategies to improve outcomes for pupils.
  • Liaise effectively with the Education Welfare Officer and Local Authority attendance services to support attendance and safeguarding procedures.

Job Purpose

  • Work preventatively with identified families to support early intervention by signposting support and guidance in times of change and stress.
  • Work directly with children and families – individually and in groups – to provide practical support, advice and guidance around a range of issues.
  • Support children at risk of exclusion from school by supporting them and their families.
  • Work closely with the attendance team to improve pupil attendance and punctuality, providing targeted support for families facing challenges.
  • Work with other educational providers to support effective transition for vulnerable children and families.
  • Liaise with relevant agencies to improve swift and easy access to statutory and voluntary services.
