Job Role
This post forms part of the Council’s Housing Enforcement Team. Under the Housing Act 2004, the Local Authority has a duty to ensure that private sector housing meets minimum standards. This role plays a vital part in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community, ensuring they have access to safe and adequate housing.
Key Responsibilities
Investigating housing complaints and undertaking enforcement action.
Assessing and licensing Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and caravan sites.
Conducting inspections to identify disrepair and housing hazards.
Taking formal enforcement action to ensure compliance with housing legislation.
What We’re Looking For
A relevant Degree in Environmental Health.
A solid understanding of housing legislation, guidance, and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
Strong communication and organisational skills to manage a diverse and demanding caseload.
A commitment to delivering high standards of customer service.
Strong background in Housing Enforcement – the service of notices, civil penalties and prosecution work.
Training and support will be provided to help you develop your expertise and confidence in the role.
