The Role You will be part of the Transport Policy and Delivery team within the Council’s Housing, Regeneration and Operations Directorate. The team plays a key role in shaping transport strategy, supporting sustainable growth and delivering evidence-based solutions that improve how people travel across the area. Working collaboratively with colleagues, partners and stakeholders, the directorate is focused on delivering high-quality, customer-focused services that support thriving, well-connected communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of traffic surveys and transport data collection programmes
- Manage and support technicians and casual survey staff
- Collect, analyse and present transport data to inform policy and decision making
- Maintain accurate datasets in line with national standards and guidance
- Oversee traffic survey equipment, including procurement and maintenance
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and relevant legislation
About You Relevant qualification (or equivalent experience) in transport planning, engineering, geography, data science or a related field, with the ability to apply this knowledge immediately. Proven experience in transport data collection, monitoring and analysis, with minimal need for supervision. Strong numerical and analytical skills, with confidence in quickly interpreting and presenting data to a range of audiences. Demonstrable experience of managing or supervising staff and coordinating workloads effectively from the outset. Practical knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and safe working practices, with the ability to apply these in day to day delivery. Proficient in Microsoft Office and data management tools (e.g. Excel, databases, GIS), with the ability to quickly utilise systems and adapt to new technologies.
