Teaching Assistant (Early Years) – Fixed Term to Cover Maternity Leave Position to commence 1 September 2026. Salary £25,989 – £26,403 FTE. Actual salary £8,951.66 – £9,094.26 (Pay Award Pending). Working hours 14.75 hours per week: Monday 8:45 – 3:30, Tuesday 8:45 – 3:30, Friday 8:45 – 12:00.
Role Overview
Teaching Assistant with experience of working with Early Years children. The stalwart and committed team of Fulford Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to support children in the Nursery and Reception classes part time, covering maternity leave.
Responsibilities
- Support the teacher in planning and delivery of learning for small groups.
- Assist with assessment and record keeping of individual children.
- Help evaluate learning opportunities for individual children.
- Support and maintain positive links between home and school.
- Provide pastoral care and support for all pupils; assist in the development and implementation of Provision Maps and Personal Care programmes.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
- Encourage pupils to interact and engage in activities led by the teacher.
- Support the teacher by leading groups of Nursery and Reception aged children.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience working with children in Early Years (state experience with SEND preferred).
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- Knowledge, skills and understanding of a range of strategies that support children’s progress.
