The Role

We are expanding the Highways team and recruiting Assistant Engineers to deliver essential improvements across Stoke‑on‑Trent’s road network. These roles offer opportunities to develop skills and progress your career within a forward‑thinking service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, delivery and supervision of highway schemes.
  • Assist with projects including road safety, maintenance and improvement works.
  • Use technical data (traffic, speed and condition data) to shape schemes.
  • Attend site inspections and support contractors on live works.
  • Help deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.

About You

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering (or working towards).
  • Strong interest in highways, infrastructure or construction.
  • Good IT and analytical skills; AutoCAD desirable.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team.
  • Proactive, positive approach and willingness to learn.
