Stoke-on-Trent City Council is recruiting Highway Maintenance Apprentices to join our frontline highways team. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in carrying out highway maintenance activities including pothole repairs, footway repairs, drainage maintenance and gully emptying
- Work safely as part of a highways operational team, complying with all health, safety and environmental procedures
- Learn and apply the practical skills and knowledge required to achieve the Level 2 Highway Maintenance qualification
- Operate and maintain tools, plant and equipment under supervision, ensuring they are used safely and effectively
- Support the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance programmes to help maintain a safe and serviceable highway network
- Develop the skills, behaviours and experience required to become a competent highway maintenance operative, contributing to the future resilience and succession planning of the workforce
