King Edward VI High School is part of the Walton Multi Academy Trust and is a mixed, fully comprehensive, 11–18 high school with over 600 pupils. Each individual is inspired and supported to achieve their potential and “Be the best they can be”. Governors wish to appoint a dedicated and experienced Supervisory Science Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be helpful and proactive, with a willingness to work flexibly to meet the needs of the team. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills are essential.
Main Purpose
To provide high‑quality technical support to the science department, ensuring the smooth and efficient preparation and distribution of apparatus and materials required for practical lessons and assessments. To maintain the safe storage of chemicals and apparatus, and to act as the health and safety representative for the science curriculum area.
Responsibilities
- Co‑ordinate the preparation and distribution of apparatus to laboratories, including the Science club.
- Assist teaching staff with demonstration lessons and practicals.
- Set up and test experiments before lessons and assessments.
- Carry out the annual audit of stock.
- Ensure the safe storage of chemicals and apparatus.
- Act as the health and safety representative for the science curriculum area.
