Research and Analysis Officer in Stafford

The Staffordshire Centre for Data Analytics (SCDA) is a small, collaborative team hosted by Staffordshire County Council, working across organisations to generate analytical insights and support coordinated responses to shared challenges in Staffordshire through innovative research and data analysis.

Role Overview

The Research and Analysis Officer will undertake research, analyse data sources, and translate findings into clear, evidence‑based insights and recommendations. The role involves working closely with partners, contributing to workshops and meetings, and supporting project delivery to high standards of data quality, governance, and ethics.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid working arrangement from Monday to Friday for a fixed term from September 2026 to the end of March 2028.

Responsibilities

• Complete desktop and wider research on identified shared challenges, establishing the requirements of stakeholders and ensuring that they are met.
• Coordinate, interpret and analyse a range of different types of data, including primary research, qualitative and quantitative data.
• Produce briefings and presentations for stakeholders, providing clear and concise evidence‑based understanding of the project, and making recommendations for next steps.
• Build positive and effective working relationships with a range of people across Staffordshire who play an active role in the success of the Centre.
• Understand and apply information governance principles in the design and delivery of projects.
• Maintain awareness of innovation within analysis to ensure use of the latest tools and techniques, best practice and information relevant to the role.

Ideal Candidate

• Be educated to A‑Level standard or equivalent in experience, professional qualification or other evidence of considerable business intelligence, data management and analytical abilities.
• Have knowledge and experience of using a range of insight tools and techniques, including qualitative and quantitative analysis, statistical techniques and methodologies.
• Have the ability to undertake research, utilising appropriate methodologies to collate, analyse, evaluate and present information to different stakeholders across a diverse audience.
• Have experience of using O365 and IT systems to gather, analyse and present information.
• Have the ability to build credible relationships and networks with stakeholders and managers from varying professional backgrounds.
• Have an excellent standard of written English and be able to interpret numerical data quickly and effectively.
• Be a team player with a positive can‑do attitude.
