Staffordshire County Council is looking to grow our Highways Team. Our vision is to help Staffordshire’s economy grow, providing opportunities for good jobs and prospects in a beautiful, safe, accessible, vibrant, cultural, prosperous, business-friendly, and sustainable county.

As a member of the Capital Maintenance team, you will:

  • Lead on the detailed design of structural maintenance projects on the public highway, ranging from small hotspot schemes to large, multi-million pound, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Commission projects through our delivery partner and supply chain, ensuring co-ordination with other activities on the network through multi-disciplinary teams and ECI.
  • Lead on engagement and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Take responsibility for quality assurance at all stages of project delivery.
  • Manage budget and spend for individual projects, including change management and reporting to ensure best value for all activities.
  • Act as Designer under CDM regulations, ensuring all duties are discharged competently.

The Ideal Candidate will have significant prior experience in the design and commission of highway maintenance schemes, along with:

  • Experience of local government agreements, specifications, standards, and contracts for the delivery of structural maintenance projects.
  • Knowledge of highway construction processes, operations, and materials applicable to varying defects, conditions, and types of highway.
  • Knowledge of highway asset management principles in a local authority context.
  • Experience of leading stakeholder communications and dealing with customers.
  • A full driving license is required.
