Flash Ley Primary School is seeking a Playworker to work with 0‑4‑year olds within the Voyage@Flash Ley Childcare Provision.
Position Details:
- Grade 3 – Level 3 (Actual Salary £9,749) or Grade 2 – Level 2 (Actual Salary £9,597)
- Hours: Term Time Only – 16 hours per week
- Monday: 11:30am‑5:00pm
- Wednesday: 11:30am‑5:30pm
- Friday: 11:00am‑3:30pm
- Hours may increase from September 2026 depending on pupil numbers
- Start date: As soon as possible
Role Overview:
This post involves key roles in our Early Years provision within the highly successful and vibrant governor‑run childcare provision of Voyage @ Flash Ley. The provision has upwards of 100 children accessing before‑school, full‑day care, nursery education funded, and after‑school provision daily. Under the supervision of the Extended Services Manager, the successful applicant will be involved with planning, implementation, and assessment of the children within their care and be a critical link between our childcare and school provision. They will also work closely within the small team of playworkers and with the school management to improve and drive innovation. Values are central at all times, and all staff are expected to have dedication to not only the childcare provision but our wider community.
Responsibilities:
- Planning, implementing, and assessing childcare activities for 0‑4‑year‑old children
- Working closely with the school management and playworker team to drive improvement
- Acting as a critical link between childcare and school provision
- Maintaining the high standards and values of the provision, ensuring every child’s welfare and development
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in childcare (or equivalent) is essential
- Consideration will be given to NVQ Level 2 candidates; salary will reflect Grade 2
- Experience working with young children (0‑4 years) is desirable
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Self‑motivated and flexible approach to work
- Organised and analytical thinking
- Professional ambition and dedication to child welfare
Additional Conditions:
- Term‑time only; some holiday cover may be required for additional hours
- Possibility of extra hours when childcare places increase
