Staffordshire County Council is a modern, progressive and forward‑thinking authority focused on delivering meaningful change and improvements that impact residents and communities. Hybrid work: minimum 2 days a week in Stafford office, with additional days as required.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure delivery of the Council’s Strategic Direction 2026‑2028 and supporting projects.
  • Take lead responsibility for aligning team capacity and resources with organisational priorities.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director for Strategy and Transformation to keep Staffordshire at the forefront of change and deliver positive outcomes for residents, communities and businesses.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships within the council and with partner organisations to ensure timely delivery of strategic priorities.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Ability to work at both strategic and operational levels, with significant leadership and management knowledge and skills.
  • Experience leading and managing large teams and/or services with clear workplans that empower staff.
  • Experience delivering change projects and programmes, including digital transformation, focused on innovation, stakeholder engagement, best practice and efficiency.
  • Experience driving culture change and transformation.
  • Influencing and negotiating skills at the highest levels to deliver change, improvement and financial benefits.
  • Relevant professional degree or equivalent by experience.
  • Working in the public sector in a similar role, or demonstrably relevant and transferable knowledge.
  • Working in a performance‑driven environment where benefits and outcomes are visible and measurable.

Assessment Process

  • Video interviews – week commencing 15 June 2026.
  • In‑person interviews and stakeholder panel – week commencing 29 June 2026.
