Solihull Youth Justice Service is a multi‑agency partnership committed to preventing and reducing youth crime and anti‑social behaviour across the borough. The Service is looking for two Youth Justice Officers, working full‑time (37 hours per week). This role offers an opportunity to make a real difference to young people, families, and victims.

Responsibilities

  • As a Youth Justice Officer you will play a key role in preventing and reducing youth crime and anti‑social behaviour across the borough.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues within the Youth Justice Service, community groups, voluntary sector and local government agencies, you will develop a sound understanding of risk, needs, public protection, safety and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Relevant professional qualification or degree (e.g. Social Work, Probation Studies, Youth Justice, Youth and Community Work, Education or Psychology).
  • Experience of direct work with children, young people, families and the community.
  • Experience of carrying out assessments of need and risk of children and young people.
  • Knowledge of legislation, standards and requirements relating to youth justice.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and build effective relationships with children and young people.

Additional Requirements and Working Conditions

  • This role requires work during evenings, weekends and some bank holidays.
  • A suitable vehicle is essential – applicants must be able to drive and provide a car licence or vehicle ownership.
  • For disabled applicants, reasonable adjustments will be made where required.
  • Travel across the borough and to other locations when necessary is required.
  • The role will be based at Elmwood Place, 37 Burtons Way, Smiths Wood, B36 0UG, with hybrid working arrangements that include other locations around the borough and work from home.
