Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is offering a part-time, 18-month fixed term contract/secondment opportunity for the Assistant Team Manager – Better Care at Home Service (BCaH), working 18.5 hours per week.
Our new Better Care at Home Service is a dynamic and exciting opportunity to showcase Occupational Therapy in Social Care, focusing on maximising independence, reducing avoidable manual handling, and improving outcomes for adults, carers, and the Council.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear leadership for the BCaH workstream and ensure successful mobilisation and transition of good moving and handling practice into business as usual.
- Drive improvement, set direction, and maintain a strong focus on quality, consistency, and performance.
- Project lead the service launch, embed systems and protocols, and establish clear performance measures that evidence improved outcomes.
- Lead training and awareness activity across Adult Social Care and partner organisations.
- Set aspirational but deliverable targets and challenge practice constructively to secure sustained improvements.
- Work closely with OT Duty, Reablement, Community OT teams, social work services, NHS colleagues, and care providers.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Occupational Therapy, BSc in Occupational Therapy, MSc or equivalent Occupational Therapy training officially recognised by the World Federation Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC registered to practice in the UK.
- Demonstrable experience of supervising staff and leading practice improvement.
- Project management and training experience are highly desirable.
- Substantial post-qualifying experience in Occupational Therapy Services.
