Overview
Worcestershire County Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Social Care Worker to join our Adult Neurodiversity Team (ANT). This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist service supporting neurodivergent adults, including people with autism, ADHD, and associated neurodevelopmental conditions. Our Adult Neurodiversity Team is committed to working alongside adults to understand their strengths, needs, and aspirations, supporting them to achieve greater independence and improved outcomes in line with the Care Act 2014.
Team and role
The Adult Neurodiversity Team is a growing, specialist service made up of Social Workers, Social Care Workers, Experienced Social Workers, and Advanced Social Work Practitioners. We are a supportive, collaborative team that values shared learning, reflective practice, and strengths‑based approaches. We work with adults who may experience additional challenges such as mental health needs, physical health conditions, or social vulnerability, and who benefit from specialist neurodiversity‑informed assessment and intervention.
Responsibilities
- Undertake strengths‑based assessments and interventions with neurodivergent adults
- Work in line with the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and safeguarding legislation
- Support individuals to develop, implement, and review person‑centred support plans
- Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns
- Advocate for individuals to ensure their voices are heard and rights upheld
You will work with people in a range of settings, including their own homes and community locations, and will need to travel across the county as required.
Partnership working
You will work collaboratively with:
- Health colleagues (including primary care and specialist services)
- District councils and other statutory partners
- Voluntary and community sector organisations
A strong understanding of neurodiversity and a commitment to inclusive, person‑centred practice are essential.
Support and development
You will be supported to manage your own caseload and will receive:
- Formal supervision every 4 weeks
- Regular peer supervision and reflective practice sessions
- A comprehensive induction programme
- Access to high‑quality learning and development opportunities
We actively support career progression and continuing professional development, including the potential to access social work apprenticeship programmes in the future.
You will also be provided with appropriate IT equipment to allow flexible working from a range of settings, including home working.
