Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council invites applications for the position of Senior Practitioner Educational Psychologist (permanent). The post is based in the Soulbury area and falls within Scale B 4-7, with an annual salary of £61,721 to £66,156 (pro rata) and the potential to receive up to 3 SPA points, bringing the maximum to £70,265. Market forces pay may increase the upper limit to £74,403. Hours are up to 18.5 per week and the role can be arranged on a part‑time or job share basis to accommodate personal commitments or consultancy work.

Role Overview
The Senior Practitioner will support the Solihull Community Educational Psychology Service (CEPS), part of the integrated SEND Operations Service, providing high quality psychological practice and professional development to trainees and assistants. The position offers opportunities to lead workstreams, undertake research, mentor staff and lead on applied projects such as social inclusion, ELSA, parent development workshops and a Trauma Informed project with the Virtual School.
Responsibilities
- Provide and supervise educational psychological services to schools, families and the wider community.
- Lead and support staff, particularly early‑career EPs, through supervision and mentoring.
- Collaborate with the leadership team on systemic initiatives within the borough.
- Develop and deliver training and CPD activities, and undertake research projects.
- Maintain professional practice in line with BPS and HCPC standards.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold: a UK Honours degree in Psychology (or equivalent) recognised by the British Psychological Society; recognised postgraduate training and a qualification in Educational Psychology; be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC); and have achieved three SPA points or equivalent in private practice.
Other Requirements
UK driving licence, car ownership and ability to use a car (essential car user status). A DBS check, pre‑employment medical and fluency duty checks will be undertaken.
