Overview
Senior Communications & Marketing Executive – Ref: RT02925. Walsall Council is seeking a talented communications professional to join our team and help tell the story of our people, our place and our council. This fixed post is for a Press and Media Officer on a permanent basis, reporting to the senior communications team. The role is suitable for journalists looking to develop a career in public sector communications and may be suitable for those with strong writing skills who want to work in the public sector.
Salary G7: £32,654 – £37,035 per annum (pay award pending). This post is designated as a politically restricted (sensitive) post and requires accurate spoken English in verbal communication with customers.
Closing date: 7th September 2025.

- Handling media enquiries.
- Researching and writing press releases and liaising with relevant officers, senior managers and Members.
- Supporting project teams and assisting with the planning and delivery of communications and marketing campaigns.
