Senior Accountant in Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council’s Communities and Growth group. Salary Grade 10 (£42,839 – £46,142). Working in the office 3+ days a week (pro‑rated) or onsite full time. This role is a key opportunity for a qualified or final‑stage accountant to lead high‑quality financial management, support strategic decision‑making, and drive continuous improvement across the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and produce budgets and close accounts.
  • Produce accurate financial reports, grants and management accounts and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and accounting standards.
  • Provide insightful analysis to support business performance and medium‑term financial strategy.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified (e.g., CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW) or in final stages of qualification.
  • Considerable budgeting and accounting experience.
  • Relevant IT skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-finance colleagues.
  • Self‑motivated and able to meet strict deadlines and targets.

Career Path:

On achieving the full professional accountancy qualification, completing the relevant portfolio or practical experience requirements, proving work‑based competencies and successfully completing an internal interview, you will have the opportunity to progress to Principal Accountant (Grade 11).
