Finance Assistant at Henry Chadwick Community Primary School (Part of Primitas Learning Partnership)

Salary: Grade 5 SCP 7 - 9, FTE salary £26,403 - £27,254 p.a. Actual Salary £9,073 - £9,315 p.a.

Hours: 14 hrs a week, Thursdays and Fridays 8.15am to 3.45pm (30 minute lunch break)

Contract Type: Permanent, Part time, Term time plus additional 6 days (41 working weeks)

Start Date: 1st September 2026

Qualifications:

  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths – strong English and Maths skills
  • NVQ 3 Business and Administration qualification or equivalent

Experience:

  • Experience of working in a busy office/admin environment (school experience preferred but not essential)
  • Ability to manage in a fast‑paced working environment with ever‑changing priorities
  • Be able to work as part of a team as well as on own
  • Ability to work closely with the other members of the office team
  • Ability to plan and develop systems
  • Methodical with good attention to detail
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK and evidence of qualifications required
  • Subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, references and online searches

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial reports for governors
  • Support the planning and setting of budgets
  • Check payroll
  • Manage purchase orders, invoices and payments of goods and services using the school finance software
  • Journal income on the school finance system
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Prepare for auditors as required
  • Prepare reports on incomes and expenditure
  • Obtain quotes and order resources
  • Support the overall work and ethos of the school as part of the team
  • Serve as the first point of contact for parents/carers and all stakeholders contacting the school – by telephone, email or face‑to‑face
  • Support the school’s strong pastoral ethos and contribute positively to the whole school vision
  • Attend termly trust finance meetings
