Whitnash Nursery School is seeking a Nursery Teacher (0.6FTE) for a temporary post for the academic year of 2026/27. Whitnash and Kenilworth Nursery School are linked by Federation, both being outstanding and innovative Maintained Nursery Schools, each with their own character, led by an Executive Headteacher.

The schools are inspired by the philosophy of Reggio Emilia and engage in action research to refine and develop the educational offer for young children, adapting to the needs of the communities. This is a rare opportunity to join this exceptional team within a teaching capacity for one academic year in the first instance. The role will primarily be based at Whitnash Nursery School but may involve work across the federation.

This role would suit a highly experienced and ambitious early years teacher (must have QTS) who feels confident working with an effective team of senior early year educators in a dynamic nursery environment. The applicant will be committed to early years education and the future direction of Maintained Nursery Schools as system leaders in birth to 5 provision, ensuring we are the ‘right place at the right time’ for all children, including those with additional needs.

The school focuses strongly on research-based practice and offers excellent CPD opportunities, including participation in DfE or other national projects. The ideal candidate will have an interest in developing their knowledge of co-creation and creativity for 2-4 year olds and will work alongside our resident artist to plan environments for learning.

The school is dedicated to the education of children aged 2 to 4 years and has developed a dynamic and bespoke curriculum and progression maps for learning behaviours. It offers a progressive approach for young children and a dialogue to shape future early years education.

Whitnash Nursery School prioritises staff welfare and upholds a strong commitment to work/life balance, taking care of those who take care of the children. The schools have been recognised for achieving effective workload support and maintaining high standards and outcomes. Ofsted has acknowledged the school as a place “That opens children’s eyes to learning,” describing our work as “innovative and nationally significant.” The school has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED in 2023 for the sixth consecutive time, emphasising creative learning and holistic development.

For more information about the school and its ethos, please visit our website, www.whitnashnurseryschool.org.uk. We welcome visits from prospective candidates with an opportunity to speak with the team and Executive Headteacher, Rachel Gillett. Please contact Emma, Office Manager, to arrange this at 01926 335312.

How To Apply: Please apply using the application form and equality form included with this advert and email to admin1003@welearn365.com. Whitnash Nursery School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.

The amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’ and are not subject to disclosure to employers, and cannot be taken into account. Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and convictions can be found on the Ministry of Justice website.

Closing date: Thursday 14 May 2026. Interviews will be held on either Tuesday 19 May at Whitnash Nursery School or Wednesday 20 May 2026 at Kenilworth Nursery School.
