Provide a high quality customer‐focused front‐of‐house service for cremations, strewing cremated remains and burials.

Responsibilities

  • Operate cremation plant and equipment, ensuring an efficient, economical and compliant service in line with relevant codes of practice and statutory requirements.
  • Deliver excellent service on every occasion – no 'second chance' is acceptable.
  • Communicate with bereaved people, exercising high levels of tact, diplomacy and empathy in difficult and detailed situations.
  • Work required shift patterns, including weekends and bank holidays, and must be able to assist and step into all roles within the service as required.
  • Perform duties on site; attendance in person is necessary to meet task demands and to respond to urgent circumstances.
  • Maintain a current first aid qualification, ensuring readiness to provide immediate assistance if required.
  • Execute work that involves physical effort, such as lifting and awkward positions, in a hot indoor environment and outdoors exposed to the elements.

Qualifications

  • Hold the Intermediate Cremator Operators Certificate – the qualification must be obtained within the six‐month probationary period for continued employment. Candidates without the certificate may be considered for a trainee role, progressing to a higher grade upon successful completion of training.
  • Maintain a valid first aid qualification throughout employment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays, and to operate effectively in a 24‐hour service environment.
