About Us

The waste management team collects refuse and recycling from over 55,000 properties each week and currently has vacancies for Refuse & Recycling Driver/Loaders to support our new food waste collection service.
This role will complement our existing team and help maintain our high service standards.
The Role
The role involves driving allocated waste collection vehicles, including 7.5 tonne food waste vehicles and, when required, 26-tonne refuse vehicles. You will drive and be responsible for your allocated vehicle, including its security, and you will supervise the staff with you. Prior to leaving the depot, you will check that the vehicle is roadworthy by undertaking a Daily Vehicle Maintenance Check and report any defects to the Supervisor in accordance with Council procedure. The use of an in-cab device to check workflow demands is also required.
Key Requirements
You should hold a minimum 7.5 tonne entitlement on your driving licence and have experience driving vehicles of this class. Applications from those holding an HGV Class C Licence (Class 2) are welcome. Drivers who do not currently hold the Class C licence will be supported to obtain it with appropriate training. You should have a sound understanding of the health and safety implications of driving large vehicles, along with excellent customer care and communication skills. Previous experience in the waste industry is preferred, but full training will be provided if not.

Compensation and Application Details
- Basic salary (not including market forces supplement) starting from £25,989 to £28,142 per annum.
