Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is offering an exciting opportunity for a skilled, experienced, and forward-thinking Principal Structures Engineer to join our expanding Highway Infrastructure Service. In this pivotal role, you will lead the delivery of bridge and highway structures projects, inspections, and maintenance programmes across the borough. You will be responsible for the strategic asset management of highway structures, ensuring statutory compliance, structural safety, and long-term serviceability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the delivery of a diverse portfolio of structures projects and programmes
  • Oversee inspections, assessments, and maintenance of highway structures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards
  • Provide expert advice on structural safety and asset condition
  • Manage budgets, contracts, and resources effectively
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, and contractors to deliver high-quality outcomes
