Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council is currently recruiting for a Planning Officer to join our Development Control team. This is an exciting opportunity to join an authority with the ambition and plans to make real progress and build a better borough. You will manage your own diverse caseload while collaborating with consultees and stakeholders. You will process all types of planning applications – including registration/validation, consultation, site visits, negotiations, and report writing – negotiate Section 106 agreements, present items to the Planning Applications Committee, and deal with Planning Appeals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage your own diverse caseload of planning applications and related matters.
  • Collaborate with a range of consultees and stakeholders.
  • Process all types of planning applications (registration/validation, consultation, site visits, negotiations, report writing).
  • Negotiate Section 106 agreements.
  • Present items to the Planning Applications Committee.
  • Deal with Planning Appeals.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of planning legislation and the ability to analyse and resolve complex information.
  • Positive, enthusiastic attitude with strong time‑management skills.
  • Previous Development Control experience.
  • Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute, or a qualification and experience that would enable membership within 12 months of appointment.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle or other appropriate means of travel.
