Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Councils are seeking a highly motivated Tree Officer to provide arboricultural advice within the planning service.

As the Tree Officer you will administer Tree Preservation Orders, determine applications for works to protected trees, and advise on development proposals affecting trees. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact on our natural environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and determine applications for works to protected trees and hedgerows
  • Prepare and serve Tree Preservation Orders
  • Advise on development proposals and planning applications involving trees
  • Investigate breaches of tree and hedgerow legislation
  • Support and advise on tree planting schemes, carbon reduction initiatives, and habitat enhancement

Qualifications

  • Minimum Higher National Diploma in Arboriculture (level 5) or equivalent
  • Significant professional experience and thorough understanding of tree and planning‑related legislation
  • Sound judgement, confident conducting site visits and working independently
  • Clear professional advice to a range of colleagues and stakeholders
