People (HR) Advisor

Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust (WHMAT) is a caring inclusive group of 7 academies serving a diverse community in East Birmingham. We have approximately 740 employees and 4,500 young people across a 3.5 mile radius.

Overview

You will be a key member of the HR (People) team, specifically in the operations arm that focuses on recruitment, payroll, professional growth and queries on terms and conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment from adverts to DBS checks and final offers.
  • Payroll liaison with external provider and ensuring new staff paperwork access.
  • Managing central inbox queries on pay and conditions.
  • Admin processes for safety checks (DBS, SCR updates).
  • Building rapport with staff and stakeholders in allocated schools.

Ideal Candidate

  • Excellent administrative skills with attention to detail.
  • IT literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel and applicant tracking systems.
  • Willingness to learn and a ‘can do’ attitude in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience or aspiration to enter HR; experience as HR Assistant or Advisor preferred.
  • Interest in Wellbeing, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (WEDI).
  • Willing to travel to all sites within the Trust.
